What is Azure Information Protection?
Hybrid and remote work is part of everyday life for many organisations, but it also poses new challenges for data security. How can you ensure that your sensitive information is safe and compliant, no matter where your employees work from? Microsoft 365 offers a solution that allows flexibility and security: Azure Information Protection (AIP). AIP is a tool that helps you classify, label, and protect your data based on your business needs and policies.
You can use AIP to:
– Define who can access your data and what they can do with it (such as view, edit, print, or forward).
– Apply encryption to your data, so that only authorised users can open it.
– Track and revoke access to your data, even after it has been shared or downloaded.
– Detect and prevent data leaks, by applying policies and rules to your data based on its classification and label.
Seamless and easy to use
AIP is part of the Microsoft 365 suite of products, which means that it integrates seamlessly with other Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
It is easy to use and manage with both preset and customisable security options. For example, you’re able to apply sensitivity labels that define what users can and can’t do with a document or email. You can choose from four predefined sensitivity labels (Personal, Public, General, and Confidential), or create your own custom labels.
AIP is easy to manage from the Microsoft 365 compliance centre, where you can also view reports and audit logs of your data activity. All of this makes it perfect for SMEs – you can customise the areas you want to, view reports and keep track of your security from an intuitive portal without needing in depth technical knowledge.
